JESUS AND ICEBERGS!

It’s been far too long since I last posted to the blog.  Mainly, it seems that little has happened for the past few weeks.  One day blends into the next.  We wake up and say, “Another lousy day in paradise!”  We’ve taken Bruno to the beach a couple of times, done some shelling and lots of chillin’.  It’s been a bit chillier than normal here in Florida.  We woke up this morning to . . . ice floes?  In Taylor Creek?  Well it has been cold!  Actually, not ice floes, but agricultural runoff, phosphates from fertilizer.  At first glance, they looked like ice floes.  Then you think, “Dirty bubble bath.”

We’ve been to the beach a couple of times; not to lay in the sun, but to let Bruno run.  He’s not particularly fond of the water, afraid of it, in fact.  When the surf comes in he runs from the water as it washes over the sand, like a four-legged sand piper.

Of course, it’s nearly impossible to walk the beach and not pick up shells and other things tossed up by the ocean.  One day, along with shells for earrings and pendants, we found Jesus—on the half shell!

Like most places in Florida, there is no lack for huge, lavish mansions on the beach.  We decided that this one must belong to an Arab Sheikh or a mob boss.  It stretches the length of a typical city block.  No telling how many rooms, but probably at least a half acre under roof!

We had planned to leave Fort Pierce right after New Year’s Day.  Then I heard from Matthew.  He said that he was headed to Florida in the middle of the month and if we were still in Fort Pierce he’d drive over to visit.  So, naturally, we stayed.  We had a wonderful visit with him and his friend, Joe.  Dinner a 12A Buoy was exceptional, as usual.
Then, two of Kathleen’s sisters announced that they were going to be in Tampa later in the month, so, again, we decided to stay.
